What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is a treatment used to heal soft tissue injuries by sending mild pulses of energy through the affected areas. It helps the body regenerate new tissue and ease pain by stimulating the nerves at the site of the injury. Shockwave treatments are also beneficial for increasing circulation in these areas.  The treatments are beneficial for tendonitis injuries including:

  • Tennis/Golfer’s elbow
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Jumper’s knee
  • Planter Fasciitis
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Bicipital Tendonitis

Though shockwave therapy sounds painful, it is only mildly uncomfortable for most people, and it is a non-surgical procedure that takes only a few minutes per treatment. It is performed through a small handheld device.

What to Expect

Typically, tendon injuries take 6 months to 1 year to heal and are very painful. Shockwave treatments can heal these injuries exponentially faster in just 3-6 weeks (about 6 treatments). We are one of the few offices in the Phoenix are (including physical therapy clinics)  that offers shockwave treatments and we are the most cost effective. Our treatments can be as low as $43 a session compared to the typical $100 a session.
